City Women v Cotswold Rangers

YYYYYEEEEEESSSSSS!!!!

Gloucester City 3 Cotswold Rangers 1

I could not be happier for the players and staff tonight as City record our first victory in the League.  It's a real landmark moment and one they have had to work so very hard to achieve. The celebrations when the goals went in and the look of determination during the game and joy afterwards say absolutely everything.

If anybody reads my post match rambles on here you'll know that in my view our performances have improved week on week.  Things came together today with some good passing football, more creativity and plenty of grit, determination and resilience.  The goals were scored by Jade, Ruby and Charley who all deserve a mention but truthfully so do the whole squad as this was a real team win.  We are not the finished article, far from it, but there is no doubt we are heading in the right direction or as AP would say we are going #Everforwards.

Let's enjoy a Sunday evening with a City win before, I am sure, all attention shifts to the next challenge.  Many congratulations to all the team and staff.  Fantastic.

Our plans for next week were Day 3 of the big race meeting at a place I cannot mention which is one of our racing high points of the year.   Driving home we both said.....or perhaps we might go and watch the Ladies instead.  It was that sort of afternoon.

Much better show today. City were probably edging it at 2-1 even though the latter two goals were from mistakes but some valiant defending and a perfect counter attacking goal killed the game off. Well done.

Nicole cool as a cucumber at the back!

Well done to the ladies today. First league win. Good battling performance after losing their 1-0 lead. Felt the away side were a bit more verbal than any team we have faced and their manager paid the price with a rather innocuous comment to the ref who banished him to the changing rooms with a red card. Could do with him in the National League the benches would be empty.

He went to the 1883 stand. I though tthe rules, certainly for our league mean't that they weren't allowed a view of the pitch. I rememeber a rather obnoxious oaf from Northwich just going at sitting in the stand at Ciren.

Yes. You are right. He tried to make himself comfortable in the 1883 but a rather shrewd and wise GCFC official ushered him to the changing rooms?.

As events have rolled out the win was glorious but in vain. Cotswold Rangers have disbanded and the League website has been updated with a revised Table that shows we loose the 3 points. So we now sit on 4 points which is 3 above bottom club Longlevens and we have a game in hand and a better goal difference. Abbeymead are 2 above us

We've games against Abbeymead, Longlevens and Bristol & West (who are not so far ahead of us either) coming up in the next 6 weeks or so. All to play for. Exciting times.
